Grooming FAQs
-
Absolutely! We understand that some pets—especially seniors or those with anxiety—need extra patience, care, and reassurance. Our approach is always gentle and stress-free, with the goal of making your pet feel as comfortable and safe as possible.
For anxious pets, we take things slow, using calm body language, soft tones, and plenty of positive reinforcement. If your pet needs breaks during their appointment, we’ll gladly give them the time they need.
For senior pets, we pay special attention to mobility, comfort, and any age-related health concerns. We make adjustments such as slower pacing, supportive handling, and accommodations for sore joints or reduced stamina.
Our priority is to tailor the experience to your pet’s unique needs, so they feel cared for and respected every step of the way.
-
Very likely, yes. We go at your dog’s pace and use high-touch handling, essential oils, and a series of witnessing and trust exercises to understand why there is resistance. Often, a dog that other groomers say needs sedation really just needs to be heard.
-
We recommend a first groom at 8–10 weeks as an orientation to the equipment and the process. There isn’t much haircutting yet. We focus on a face and eye trim so they can see, a sanitary trim, nails, and getting to know the groomer.
-
No, we do not sedate. We use patience, high-touch handling, essential oils, and trust-building exercises to work through whatever is causing the stress.
-
Add-ons are always optional, and there are three tiers.
Fresh Smile (+$25): a teeth and mouth treatment with a specialized gel that helps release tartar and plaque from the enamel, plus a breath freshener that helps balance the oral microbiome.
Fresh & Soft (+$35): everything in Fresh Smile, plus a coat enhancement such as a brightener or a deshed treatment.
Head-to-Paw Care (+$45): everything in Fresh & Soft, plus our spa treatment with a full essential oil application (not just diffused in the air) and paw and pad care.
Some dogs need the essential oil application. When they do, it is added to their groom at an extra charge. It’s included in Head-to-Paw Care.
-
Yes. We groom cats in their own home or in our van. Boarding and salon grooming are for dogs only.
-
A few things help us set your pet up for success:
When was their last groom, and why are you looking for a new groomer?
Any resistance or mobility issues.
Your grooming goals, including any photos or ideas of what you’d like.
Any long-term medical issues or health history, including allergies, recent vet visits (regular or emergency), and any vaccinations required by Texas law (rabies).
-
Our grooming services are designed to be more than just a haircut—they’re a full care experience, customized to your pet’s needs and your preferences. Because we offer both van and in-home grooming, the details may vary slightly, but here’s what you can always expect as our standard of care:
Bathing & Coat Care – A gentle bath with quality shampoos suited to your pet’s coat and skin type, followed by coat conditioning and thorough drying to keep their skin healthy and fur soft.
Nail Trimming & Paw Care – Regular nail care keeps paws comfortable and prevents strain on joints. We also check for any irritation or sensitivity around the paws.
Ear Rinse – A light, careful ear cleanse to maintain comfort and reduce the chance of infections.
Styling or Grooming of Choice – Whether you prefer a breed-standard trim, a practical cut, or just a simple tidy-up, we shape the grooming to your wishes and your pet’s lifestyle.
Because every pet is unique, we also tailor the process to their age, health, and temperament. For senior pets, anxious pets, or those with special needs, we may recommend breaking up the grooming into shorter sessions. This ensures your pet doesn’t become overwhelmed—sometimes a haircut one day, with a nail trim or ear rinse done later after a rest period. Our focus is always on your pet’s comfort and safety.
In short: grooming with us is never a one-size-fits-all checklist. It’s a thoughtful, compassionate experience designed to keep your dog clean, healthy, and happy—while giving you peace of mind that they’re receiving the best possible care.
-
We offer both in-home grooming and mobile van grooming so you can choose what works best for your pet and your lifestyle. While the services themselves are very similar—bathing, drying, nail care, and grooming of choice—the setup and experience are a little different:
In-Home Grooming
Space & Power: We’ll need a designated area in your home with access to electricity and water. A bathroom, laundry room, or kitchen often works best.
Owner Time: While you don’t have to be hands-on during the grooming, we do ask for your help with access and setup. After that, you’re free to step away if you like.
Pet Comfort: Some pets do best in the familiarity of their own home. This option minimizes travel stress and keeps them in a space they know and trust.
Van Grooming
Self-Contained Salon: Our grooming van is a fully equipped mobile salon, designed to handle most grooming needs right outside your home.
Power Needs: We run on solar energy for most operations. In some cases, especially for larger dogs or longer appointments, we may request house power support. Don’t worry—we bring a heavy-duty extension cord to make this simple.
Convenience: This option keeps your home completely mess-free and requires less setup time from you. We handle everything from start to finish in the van.
Which Option is Best?
Both are safe, professional, and designed around your pet’s comfort. If your pet is anxious or does better staying inside, in-home grooming may be ideal. If you’d rather keep things simple and contained, or don’t have the right space inside, van grooming is often the easier choice.
Either way, our priority is providing your pet with a calm, caring grooming experience and making things as stress-free as possible for you.

For those who are a little farther out, we can often accommodate visits with some advance notice or by coordinating appointments in your area. Our priority is making sure pets get the care they deserve, so we do our best to be flexible whenever possible.
Whether you’re in the heart of the city or a nearby neighborhood, we want every grooming session to feel convenient, personalized, and stress-free—for both you and your pet.
-
Booking with us is simple and flexible. You can schedule an appointment through our online booking system (available on our website) or by reaching out to us directly by phone or email—whatever is easiest for you. We’ll confirm the details with you, including your preferred grooming option (in-home or van), the services you’d like, and any special needs your pet may have.
If you ever need to reschedule, we completely understand—life happens, and pets’ needs can change. Just let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust our calendar and offer that time to another pet parent. We’ll work with you to find the next best spot that fits your schedule.
Our goal is to make the process stress-free and convenient, from setting up your first appointment to shifting things around if something comes up. Clear communication and flexibility are part of the care we provide—not just for pets, but for their people too.
